Elemental Reformer™ · Our philosophy
Movement belongs
in the way we live.
We design Pilates equipment and movement objects that feel at home in the spaces you love. Thoughtful in form. Purposeful in use.
What matters to us.
Considered form
Equipment that earns its place in a room through thoughtful proportions, tactile surfaces and a quiet palette.
Purposeful movement
Objects designed around practice, with function guiding the details that connect body and equipment.
Everyday possibility
More ways to make movement part of your day, across mat and reformer practice and the spaces you use.

Meet the founder
Samantha Giam
A life in motion.
I have spent most of my working life in design and product development, thinking about how objects can better serve the people who use them. Elemental brings that experience together with something deeply personal: my love of Pilates.
I am a certified Pilates instructor, trained at the Swiss Pilates Institute under Patricia Duchaussoy. I approach Elemental as both a product developer and a practitioner, with the body and everyday use at the centre of each decision.

Movement, at home
A practice within everyday life.
I took up Pilates after experiencing health issues in 2024. What began as a personal reason to make time for movement grew into a practice I love, and a desire to understand it more deeply through instructor training.
That experience made the question behind Elemental personal: how could Pilates fit more naturally into daily life, in the spaces where we already feel at home?
Why what it's made of matters
Safe for the people I love.

My daughter Amelia is on the reformer with me most days, reading, climbing and copying my legs in the air. So I think about what's in it the way I think about what's in our food.
That's why we chose a PFAS-free marine vinyl that complies with EU REACH chemical safety rules, and why there's no added formaldehyde. Materials you touch every day, skin to surface, in the home with the people you love, should be safe without you needing to check.
A lifetime around design
Research first.
Design with purpose.
Begin with insight.
At Steelcase, I learned to begin with insight and research: observe how people live and work, question assumptions, and return to first principles before deciding what to make. Rigorous testing and compliance were part of that discipline, shaping the work from the outset.
Value what endures.
At Herman Miller, I learned to value design heritage: the thinking behind an object, the integrity of its purpose, and the courage to invest in ideas that can endure. It deepened my appreciation of products whose relevance grows through years of use.
Those lessons inform Elemental today. My work in design and product development meets my experience of Pilates in the details: how a hand meets a frame, how equipment moves through a home, and how materials and construction support long-term use.
Pilates training
Learning from Patricia.
My teacher, Patricia Duchaussoy, is the founder of the Swiss Pilates Institute and a second-generation Pilates master with more than 35 years of international teaching experience. Her background in professional dance and training with first-generation Pilates teachers connect her teaching to the method's roots.

“The Aeron chair is my favourite design object. To me, it represents disruption, design thinking at its best, and Herman Miller's courage to back a breakthrough concept before it was proven. Its launch in 1994 still inspires me.”

Design with a purpose
Every detail has a role.
A rounded frame. A place for the hands. A surface that meets the body. These details shape how an object feels to use, as well as how it looks in a room.
TerraFold™ brings a full-scale reformer into the home, in Au Sable, Au Jardin and Au Terroir: the tones of sand, garden and earth.

Small object. New possibilities.
Make room for a little exploration.
Pebble™ carries the same thinking into a smaller form: a lightweight Pilates box for mat and Elemental reformer practice that adds elevation, support and new ways to approach familiar movements.

A practice we share
The object is only the beginning.
What brings it to life is you: the time you make, the movements you explore and the people you learn alongside. Elemental Freestyle and our Movement Partners programme are coming soon.
