The idea behind TerraFold™ began with a practical tension: I wanted serious reformer practice at home without asking an entire room to become a permanent gym.
A reformer is a large object. Traditional equipment often assumes a dedicated studio environment. At home, the same object has to share space with furniture, people, light, views and the ordinary changes of a day.
The problem was not Pilates
The practice was something I wanted to return to regularly. The friction was the environment around it: travelling to a studio, finding time, and then deciding where a full-size machine could live at home.
Why folding mattered
Folding was not about making a miniature reformer. The design question was whether a full-scale practice could remain available while the object became less dominant when the session ended.
Why materials mattered too
If the reformer was going to live beyond a conventional studio, its materials needed to be considered accordingly. TerraFold™ uses marine-grade ropes, outdoor powder coating and yacht-grade upholstery as part of that approach.
From equipment to part of the room
I wanted the reformer to feel intentional even when nobody was exercising on it. Colour, proportion, touch points and the way it occupies space became part of the product brief rather than decoration added at the end.
A reformer designed around real life
TerraFold™ is the result of that idea: a full-scale foldable Pilates reformer designed to make space for both practice and everything that happens around it.
