A Pilates practice does not have to belong to a dedicated studio. Homes, terraces, holiday houses, hotels, retreats and workplaces can all become places to move when the equipment, surface and conditions are right. Taking Pilates beyond the studio removes the travel and scheduling friction that stops most people practising as often as they intend.

Why take movement beyond the studio?
The studio brings equipment, instruction and ritual together, and that remains valuable. But regular practice depends on access. When equipment lives where you live, short and frequent sessions become realistic.
Where can Pilates happen?
| Place | What makes it work | Read more |
|---|---|---|
| Home | Equipment that shares the room with everyday life | Choosing a home reformer |
| Terraces and gardens | Materials built for moisture, UV and salt air | Reformers outdoors |
| Hotels and resorts | Guest-facing design and hospitality-grade durability | Hotel wellness spaces |
| Retreats | Portable, outdoor-ready equipment | Planning a retreat |
| Workplaces | Foldable equipment for multipurpose rooms | Corporate wellness |
What changes when Pilates enters the home?
Equipment becomes part of the room. Footprint, storage, materials and visual presence matter alongside performance. A home reformer has to coexist with furniture, circulation and the other uses of the space. Read Biophilic Home Gym Ideas.
What about outdoor Pilates?
Moving outdoors combines practice with natural light and fresh air. Equipment should only be used in environments its materials and manufacturer guidance support, ideally under cover.
The Elemental idea
Elemental began with a design question: what if Pilates equipment could belong in the places where people actually live? That question shaped TerraFold™, a full-scale foldable reformer for home and covered outdoor use, and Pebble™, a light box that moves between reformer, mat and yoga. It is why Elemental describes itself as the first Pilates brand purpose-designed for the outdoors.

Do I still need a studio if I have a home reformer?
